Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Bangalore. Drive to Bandipur National Park via Mysore, a city steeped in history. In Mysore, visit the magnificent Mysore Palace, built in 1912 for the 24th ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty. Explore the serene Chamundi Hills, home to the Chamundeshwari Temple, and get a glimpse of the colossal Nandi Bull sculpture. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the sprawling City Palace, a testament to royal grandeur. Admire the Neo-Gothic architecture of St. Philomena's Church, the second tallest church in Asia. Continuing your journey towards Bandipur National Park, you'll pass through picturesque landscapes. Upon arrival at the park, check in at your chosen accommodation. Dinner will be served at the resort, where you'll spend the night.
Fuel up with breakfast at the resort before embarking on a day of wildlife exploration. Enjoy both morning and afternoon safaris within Bandipur National Park, a haven for diverse flora and fauna. The park is flanked by the Kabini River in the north and the Moyar River in the south, with the Nugu River flowing through it. Bandipur offers a rich variety of wildlife, and if you're lucky, you may spot Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, Gaurs, Dholes (Indian Wild Dogs), Sloth Bears, Langurs, and numerous deer species, including Spotted Deer and Sambar Deer. Keep an eye out for the elusive Muntjac, also known as the Barking Deer. The park is teeming with avian life, and birdwatchers can catch glimpses of Peafowl, Grey Junglefowl, raptors like Honey Buzzards and Red-headed Vultures, as well as other species like Flowerpeckers, Hoopoes, and Indian Rollers. The park also houses owls, eagles, and serpent eagles. Bandipur is equally rich in reptiles, including the Spectacled Cobra, Indian Rock Python, various vipers, rat snakes, muggers, monitor lizards, Indian Chameleon, Indian Pond Terrapin, agamids, and flying lizards. After a day of exciting wildlife encounters, return to the resort for lunch, dinner, and a restful overnight stay.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the resort and bid farewell to the wilderness of Bandipur. On your way back to Bangalore, make a stop at Somanthpur to visit the Chennakeshava Temple, located near the captivating Shivanasamudra Waterfalls. This temple, intricately carved in a star shape, is a splendid example of Hoysala architecture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a peaceful retreat amidst natural beauty.
