Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Paro - Transfer to Thimphu (65kms/ 2hrs drive)

Upon your arrival at Paro Airport, our team will greet you and transfer you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. At an elevation of 2,400 meters (7,875 feet), Thimphu welcomes you with its serene beauty. Check in at your hotel and then set out to explore the city. Stroll through the interesting markets, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture. Optionally, visit Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress that currently houses the king's throne room, government offices, and various ministries. Also, explore Tashi Chhoe Dzong, another prominent monastery. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Thimphu - Punakha/ Wangdue via Dochula pass (70kms / 2hrs drive)

After a delightful breakfast, embark on a morning sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Visit the National Memorial Chorten and Buddha Point, which offers panoramic views of the Thimphu valley. In the afternoon, head to Punakha/Wangdue, and along the way, take a break at the picturesque Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters). Weather permitting, this pass provides breathtaking vistas of Bhutan's highest peaks. Continue your journey to the warm valley of Punakha and visit the historic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Po and Mo Chu Rivers. Built in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, this dzong once served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955. (Please note that the Punakha Dzong may be closed during the winter months when the monk's body is in Punakha.) Overnight at a hotel in Punakha/Wangdue.

Day 3: Punakha /Wangdue to Paro (Approx 160kms / 4hrs drive)

After breakfast, explore the Chhimi Lhakhang temple in Punakha. Later, embark on a scenic drive to Paro, enjoying views of the Shaba River Point and the Paro airport. Check in at your hotel and visit Rinpung Dzong, also known as Paro Dzong, which boasts a rich and fascinating history. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Hike to Taktsang

Today, after a leisurely breakfast, embark on an excursion to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger's Nest. This spectacular monastery is perched atop an 800-meter cliff in Paro and requires a 5-hour hike to reach. The journey to Taktsang is a spiritual and visually stunning experience, and it's often said that a trip to Bhutan is incomplete without this pilgrimage. On your return to town, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines in Bhutan. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll in Paro town and explore local handicraft stores. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Paro – Departure

After breakfast, our team will drop you off at Paro Airport for your onward flight, concluding your memorable journey through the enchanting landscapes and rich culture of Bhutan.
