We'll start the day with a pick-up from your Goa hotel and drive for about 250 kilometers to reach Badami. Upon arrival, we'll check into a hotel. Badami is known for its striking red sandstone cave temples, fortifications, and carvings surrounding the Agastya Lake. This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing traditional Indian temple architecture. Badami was once the capital of the Chalukyas and is famous for its mix of South and North Indian architectural styles. If you're up for adventure, rock climbing is a popular activity here. Spend the night at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll take an excursion to visit Aihole, a historical site with over 125 Chalukyan temples and monuments set against sandstone hills along the Malaprabha River. Aihole served as the Chalukya Dynasty's capital and boasts Hindu and Jain temples dating back to the 6th to 12th century. Notable attractions include the Durga Temple, Lad Khan Temple, Ravanaphadi Cave Temples, Huchimalli Temple, Meganagudi group, Gowda Temple, and Huchappayyagudi Temple. Next, we'll explore Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Hindu and Jain temples reflecting Chalukyan Architecture. The Hindu temples beautifully combine North and South Indian styles. They were built in the 9th century by the Rashtrakuta Dynasty. The Jain Temple, constructed by Queen Lokamahadevi, is a noteworthy addition. Virupaksha Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, showcases South Indian architecture. Important temples to visit include the Jain temple, Papanatha temple, Galaganath temple, and Sangameshwara temple. After the sightseeing, we'll drive back to Goa and drop you off at your hotel or the Goa airport, concluding this enriching journey.
