Early in the morning, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Delhi and transferred to the railway station to catch the Swarna Shatabdi train to Amritsar. Upon your arrival in Amritsar, you'll be transferred to your hotel. Later in the day, you'll visit the Wagah border to witness the captivating Beating Retreat ceremony, a 30-minute display of military camaraderie between Indian and Pakistani soldiers just before sunset. The ceremony is accompanied by chanting of the Indian national anthem, rounds of applause, and Bollywood-style dancing to Hindi songs. You'll spend the night at your hotel in Amritsar.
After breakfast, your exploration of Amritsar begins with a visit to the iconic Golden Temple, a sacred site for Sikhs known for its stunning golden dome. You'll also explore the Durgiana Temple, which shares architectural similarities with the Golden Temple, and the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, home to rare and valuable collections. The historical Gobindgarh Fort, originally constructed in the 18th century, is on your itinerary as well. Here, you'll find the famous Zamzama cannons and get to experience the charm of Amritsar's old market through a rickshaw ride and walking tour. Later, you'll drive to Dharamsala, where you'll check in at your hotel for an overnight stay.
Your day in Dharamsala begins with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a visit to McLeodganj, the residence of many Tibetan exiles. While there, you'll explore the main Buddhist temple and the enchanting surroundings with prayer wheels and serene pools. The Bhagsunag Temple, with its sacred pools and lush greenery, and the Bhagsu Waterfalls are also on your agenda for the day. You'll take in the beauty of Dal Lake, surrounded by Deodar trees, and visit the neo-gothic Church of St. John in the Wilderness. You'll spend the night at your hotel in Dharamsala.
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, it will be time to check out and head to the Dharamsala airport for your flight back to Delhi.
