Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu (Alt: 1350 m)
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by our office representative. They will assist you in the airport formalities and then transfer you to your hotel. Once you've checked in, you can relax and acclimate to the new surroundings.
Day 2: Kathmandu (Alt: 1350 m)
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you'll embark on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. First, you'll visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, you'll explore Budhanilkantha, where you'll find a colossal statue of Lord Vishnu reclining on a serpent. In the evening, there will be a tour briefing at your hotel, giving you an overview of the upcoming journey.
Day 3: Kathmandu – Syaphrubeshi (150kms, Alt: 1450 m)
Following breakfast, you'll continue your journey by road to Syaprubeshi, a charming town near the border of Nepal and China. Along the way, you'll be treated to scenic views of the countryside.
Day 4: Drive Syaprubeshi – Kerung (45kms, Alt: 4130 m)
After a nourishing breakfast, you'll drive to the China border, known as the Friendship Bridge. Once you've completed the necessary customs and immigration formalities, you'll continue your drive to Kerung, where you'll rest for the night.
Day 5: Kerung – Saga (375kms, Alt: 4500 m)
Today's journey takes you from Kerung to Saga. The landscape will change as you progress, offering new vistas and experiences along the way.
Day 6: At Saga, for acclimatization
In preparation for the high altitudes you'll be reaching, today is designated as a rest day in Saga. It's essential to allow your body to acclimatize to the thinning air at these elevations.
Day 7: Saga - Mansarovar (350kms, Alt: 4540 m)
Today, you'll travel to the sacred Mansarovar Lake via Prayang and Mayum La Pass, which stands at an impressive altitude of 5200 meters. You'll arrive at Hor Quo (4560 meters) and have the opportunity for Pooja (worship) and a holy bath in the pristine waters of Mansarovar. It's a day filled with spiritual significance and a first glimpse of the magnificent Mt. Kailash.
Day 8: Drive Lake Mansarovar to Darchen, Base Camp of Kailash (350kms, Alt: 4620 m)
After a morning of worship and reflection at Mansarovar, you'll drive to Darchen, the base camp of Mt. Kailash. This drive is relatively short and takes around an hour and a half. Upon arrival, you'll have time to settle in and prepare for the upcoming spiritual journey.
Day 9: 1st Day of Parikrama to Diraphuk (16kms Walk / 4kms drive, Alt: 4860 m)
Your Kailash Parikrama (circumambulation) begins today. After breakfast, you'll drive near Yama Dwar, where you'll meet yaks and their handlers. The yaks will carry the necessary logistics for your trek. The day's journey includes a visit to Yama Dwar and a gradual walk of approximately 5 hours, offering you views of the western face of Mt. Kailash. Your night halt will be at Dirapuk, where you'll be treated to views of the north face of Mt. Kailash.
Day 10: 2nd Day of Parikrama to Zuthulphuk (22kms Walk / Alt: 5850 m)
Today involves an early morning trek uphill to Dolmala Pass, which stands at an impressive 5850 meters. The trek takes around 4 to 5 hours. After reaching the pass, you'll descend to the valley floor, which also takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. Along the way, you'll pass Gauri Kunda. It's a challenging day of Parikrama, and you'll spend the night in a tented camp at Zuthulphuk.
Day 11: 3rd Day of Parikrama. Drive to Saga (10kms Walk / 280kms drive, Alt: 4500 m)
Complete the final day of your Parikrama with a trek down to Chongdo, covering approximately 10 kilometers. Our transport will pick you up here and drive you back to Dongba. For those not participating in the Parikrama, you'll stay at Darchen until the Parikrama participants return.
Day 12: Drive Saga - Kerung (350kms, Alt: 3770 m)
Today, you'll retrace your steps and drive from Saga to Kerung.
Day 13: Kerung - Kathmandu (160kms, Alt: 1350 m)
Say farewell to Kerung as you drive back to the Friendship Bridge at Rasuwa Gadhi, the Nepal-China border. After completing the necessary customs formalities, you'll drive back to Kathmandu, where you can enjoy the comfort of your hotel once more.
Day 14: Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, it's time for your final departure. You'll leave Nepal with cherished memories of your spiritual journey around Mt. Kailash and the beautiful Lake Mansarovar.
